Matura Exam 2017: English (4mS)

>> Back to the regular 4mS website

Sorry, I know it's kitschy - I just couldn't resist ;-)

WRITTEN MATURA

When: Friday, 2 June 2017, 8.00-11.00am (be there by 7.50 at the latest)
Where: Aula Altbau

You are allowed to use your English-English dictionary for both parts of the written exam.

No bags etc. at your desk.
Leave your (switched off!) mobile phone in your bag.
No notes in your dictionary.
You are only allowed to use sheets of paper provided by the school.
Put your name and class on every sheet you use and hand in everything at the end.
During the first part (translation) nobody is allowed to leave the room.

1. Translation
Preparation: have a look at the translations we did in class.
Time: about 60-75 minutes

Once you hand in the translation, please tell your teacher whether you want to
a) have a break → come and get your essay topics after the break.
b) continue → you will get the essay topics straight away.

2. Essay
Preparation: have a look at „How to write an essay“ and your English essays.
Time: the remaining time until 11.00am

The essay topics will deal with:

Lies of Silence
Looking for Alaska
To Kill a Mockingbird

ORAL MATURA

1. Be there on time, i.e. 15 minutes before the first member of your group has his/her exam.
2. You'll have 15 minutes to look at the text passage (while another exam is taking place) → use your time wisely and, if necessary, use the earmuffs provided. You are not allowed to write anything down. The text passage is from one of your three prioritized books.
3. Impress your teacher and the expert for 15 minutes (remember: we are on your side)
PS: The first 10 minutes are spent on the text passage and its corresponding book - the last 5 minutes will be about one of the other four books.
4. Shed a few tears (of joy) and then GO OUT AND ENJOY LIFE! :-D

Once again GOOD LUCK!
Your (soon-to-be former) English teacher
